Violet Goodhill dreams of being an adventurer the same as her grandfather. On her eighteenth birthday, he gifts her an admittance letter to join his former adventuring guild—The Guild of Adventuring, Tomfoolery, and Shenanigans. As she ventures out to join The G.O.A.T.S., she’ll discover being an adventurer isn’t as easy as it appears.

When Violet arrives in the idyllic town of Northbrook, she meets Tobias Hawthorn. A grizzled, grumpy, middle-aged adventurer in search of one last quest into the dark forest of Shadowfell. Turned away by the other adventuring parties because of his injured knee, Tobias finds himself only dreaming of one last adventure to the dark forest before retiring. He has no interest in or time to train Violet how to be an adventurer.

However, Tobias is given a choice by the guild leader: either teach Violet or be forced to retire. He reluctantly accepts to be Violet’s Shepherd in hopes of convincing others he can still be an adventurer. They face perils and dangers, while also managing to have some fun during their journey as they set out to help those in need . . . no matter how big or small.
